'96 850 GLT/Atlanta Winter 2014 IcePacalypse/Ice Storm survivor.
My mom passed her 96 Volvo 850 GLT to me after she bought a new Honda Accord and my 98 Ford Taurus SHO died in January of this year. This was a week before the freak Ice storm that hit and paralysed the Metro Atlanta, GA area.
This car has meticulous service records. I know everything my mom replaced on this car. This car had 278,041 miles when she gave her to me.
That night of the ice storm, I got off at 9pm. Made the slow trek toward home on roads that were iced over. It took me a total of 7 hours. I made my way up hills, passing people in 4X4 SUV's who were getting stuck. A lot of people didn't make it home that night, but I did, in a high mileage 96 Volvo 850 GLT. Since then, I've replaced some parts, done some maintenance, and will continue to do so. I'm a believe. I love this car and I'm going to keep driving this car until it won't run, then rebuild it and keep her moving. This car brings new meaning to the term- "Swedish DeathMetal". I survived IcePacalypse 2014 in this car...
I've mentioned this in at least one other thread- Every time I did a search for info on this car regarding repairs and maintenance, this site kept coming up. This site is a wealth of Volvo information. Anyone who doesn't think so is crazy. ;-)

TY. I just uploaded pics to my profile. I'll get around to appearance mods soon. Front lip spoiler is first on the list. Thanks for all of your contributions on this site. I've come upon a bunch of your posts while doing Google searches on repairs and maintenance for my Volvo.
