I have a 99 s80t6 has 75000 miles on it well recently I replaced ignition and imobilizer and put key in and nothing I even put old imobilizer on and put old key next to new key and still nothing. Do I need to take to dealer and have programmed?
You replaced the steering column lock and the immobilizer antenna? And maybe the electrical portion of the ignition switch? (that bolts to the steering column lock)
New key (as in the physical key you put in the ignition tumbler and turn) - requires a software download using VIDA to tell the CEM to accept the signal from the chip in the key and allow the car to start.
"New immobilizer" - If you are talking about the antenna ring that's mounted on the steering column lock (and picks up the signal from the chip in the key) - that's just a ring of wire and is plug and play.
?? Undo the 2 screws and take the ignition switch off the steering column lock (switch pictured below) While still plugged in, Use a screwdriver to turn the ignition switch - electrical stuff should happen.
I don't think you will be successful cutting open a rubber key handle and removing/transplanting the "chip" without damaging it.
I already got the chip out it’s a glass tube with wire inside.
and when I turn with screwdriver and nothing happens then you think the switch is bad most likely?
Do you have 12 (battery) volts at terminal 30? This diagram shows what terminals get power in what positions. Power gets to the red/black wire on terminal 30 from fuse 25 in the c fusebox (on the end of the dashboard) I've replaced many ignition switches (on earlier cars) for problems with the accessory circuit - but don't recall one that did nothing.
