Default Best Volvo Wagon?

Hi,

Our Australian motor noters at "Wheels" magazine say the following about Volvo wagons:

XC90 : Likes: Flexible seating arrangements and loads of storage should win over safety concious families. Clever and innovative interior, feels solid and crashes very well. Dislikes: Four-speed auto hampers progress, dynamics are ordinary at best, ride is poor on bad roads, vague and top-heavy handling.

XC70: LIkes: Long-legged cruising ability on any surface, a great engine, a fine cabin to boot. Dislikes: Unlikely never to leave Paddington or the like(meaning like the high class suburb in Melbourne). Lift-off oversteer on dirt can alarm.

My own observation about the XC70: Probably the best wagon choice on offer from Volvo. The 4wd system seems like a waste of time especially when you compare the asymetrical system used by Subaru.

V70: Likes: Safe as houses, no longer looks like an apartment block and it carries a shedload. Dislikes: Dull as dishwater, and desperately in need of some Ford suspension know-how. Patience.

V50: Likes: Really handsome carry-not-quite-all and a fine drive. SE is better value than base V50. Dislikes: Flatter roof fixes the V40's rear headroom issues, but V50 remains faily cosy inside.

Cheers ... Nick
