Default engine light

I have a 2000 volvo S80 2.9 Non Turbo and I have had off and on problems with this car it has about 103,000 miles. So I am driving today and I had just had the computer program in my car updated as the recall stated. Now my check engine light comes on and it starts blinking on and off, the car starts shaking a little bit when I slow down and hit the brakes then the check engine will stop blinking on and off. When I accelerate then it starts blinking again. I took it to a repair shop to have it looked at, they said that nothing registered in the computer but it looked like the reason could be because my spark plugs were in bad shape. So they did a tuneup which cost me around 300 dollars. So I get the car back that day started it up and the light goes off again and still does the same thing it shakes a little when I slow down and come to a complete stop then the light stops blinking and then as soon as I accelerate it starts to blink again. What could be the problem with this car. I dont want to take a chance and drive it somewhere where it would cut off. What should I do?

i would guess if they have not replaced the coil packs that might be the issue what i would suggest is to write this in the s80 section and more people could help you out with it

One or more of the coil packs are bad.
