Hi and welcome to the site.

Do you have any pics to share?

As you have already learned, the 850 section has what you need.

Default New to Me - 2008 C70

Hi Everyone,

I've lurked on this site for years as I've owned a couple of Volvos (240DL wagon 289K, 2003 S80 168K) and I just picked up a 2008 C70 because it was cheaper than repairing my S80. It's got 110K miles on it and running a little rough so my mechanic wants to change the plugs. He said get Volvo OEM plugs as these cars can be finicky. I went to my local dealership to get the plugs but also to ask about getting a replacement key fob, the car only had one and it's malfunctioning... you can lock it but you can't open it remotely. Using the bladed key activates the (effective) alarm unless you locked the car with the blade.

Mind if I complain on my first ever post?

WTF!?!?!? Seriously. $350-$400 for a key. $160 just to diagnose the problem, though that comes out of the price of the key if you go through with the transaction. I bought the plugs from the parts counter. $99.41. I get home and do a quick search on the parts # and they're on Amazon for $59.37 delivered to my door. SO... I check my receipt and sure enough, I can return them within 7 days as long as I have the invoice and pay the 20% handling charge. 20% Handling Charge. If my maths are correct, 20% of $99 is really close to $20. To return a package of 5 spark plugs.

Yes, I probably should have researched the part # ahead of going in there and price shopped but it's effin Covid and my brain is slow. And the key. I wouldn't mind having a second one considering I'll still be able to blame Covid for my brain fog for another 8-12 months and I'm bound to misplace it somewhere or lock my keys in the car etc etc.

I'm discouraged and dismayed by the dealership. I love the car though... completely impractical for my line of work but it was $1500 so there you have it. Any suggestions on the key fob, let me know. I'll search the forums, and thanks!
