Getting into '99 S80 T6!
What's up I am looking at getting an S80 T6 here in the next few days, trying to get as much information as I can about the car and what type of perofmance mods are available. Ever since losing my 2000 A6 2.7T I have wanted to get back into a nice big bodied beast with some bawls and the T6 seems like a good choice.

Well for starters 99's suck big time. They have the ETM (Electronic Throttle Module) which if it hasn't been replaced needs to be and also have the latest software updates done for the ETM, also this is a Volvo only fix no one else can do it period.
Second of all it is a s80T6 in all honesty there is not much out there for this car. If you look at these links you will see, Take a look at these links
I would say if you want a performance minded Volvo these are the models to look into. 850 Turbo, 850 T5R, 850R, s70 Turbo, S70T5 and if you can import an S70R do it, V70 Turbo, V70T5, V70R. 95-98 are the best years. The 70 series is the continuation of the 850's. The s70's replaces the 850 sedans and the v70's replaced the 850 wagons. Also 97-98 c70's are great because they are LPT's and HPT's
Ask yourself these questions... What is your budget? and also, what is your Hp goal.
If your diehard set on this s80T6 then this is what I would do. One start off with a STAGE ZERO in th links listed above thread there is a link to Volvospeed which will tell you about STAGE ZERO.
Then I would get a Boost/Vac gauge so you know what your boosting. Also have your car dynoed so you know your stock numbers.
Then I would have 3" mandrel bent downpipes made and a 2.5" free flowing catback system made with a Magnaflow muffler. All mandrel bent of course.
Then an ECU upgrade done. I bet you will be in the 300Hp range maybe with good tuning from like RICA.

RE: Getting into '99 S80 T6!
I will have to look through the maint reciepts to see what all has been done but I will be the 2nd owner, the first was a little old lady who had this thing religiously maintained at a premier volvo dealership here in Germany. The car has 122,000 miles on it but it's flawless, I even went as far to have the dealership who has serviced it since she bought it in late 99 check the car out. I spoke with a mech who knew the lady and said she always had whatever needed to be done on the car done, as mentioned there is a huge stack of reciepts to back that. The price is 9,995 due to the mileage and I was weary of that but after having it checked out it seems damn solid. I will have to see if the fuel mgt has been replaced. This car is slated to replace the Endeavor as the grocery getter for toting my wife and kids around, I was looking to do mild power upgrades, some wheels and audio for the wife. What do you think?

What do they offer for styling for this car? I haven't found much... head light conversions, body kits, etc.... will the body kits for the S60R fit on the S80?

Rims, lowering it, and tint are about the only exterior styling mods for this car.
That is why I suggest an 850, s70, v70 or c70. Pre 1999.

But this body style is just so damn sexy! I may just have to buy an s60R kit and modify it... I assume its not wide enough for the ft and rear and the skirts a few inches too short? If thats the case a mod job won't be too bad at all, have you heard of any one trying? I have modifed numerous glass kits before with success so it wouldn't be uncharted territory I'd just like to get an idea of what needs modified.

I would just lower the car, tint the windows and put some 18 inch rims and tires on the car. Plus your engine mods and you will be good to go.
BodyKits on Volvo's look out of place. Even the EVOLVE kit for the s60R I mean it works for the car, but it is not IMO worth it.
I mean go ahead a do the custom work.

thanks for the input Im just feeling out all the options. What do you think about the mileage being so high even though it was maticulously maintained?

At this point your going to have to have the ETM replaced at about $1200 unless they will honor the warranty on it and probably yet another software upgrade.

RE: Getting into '99 S80 T6!
OK so I went to the dealer today and kiped the service book out of the glove box (with permission of corse). The car was bought new on 27 April 1999.
3,000 mile Oil Change/Turbo Insp: 15 June 1999 @ 3,590 miles
10K mile Service: 18 August 1999 @ 8,476 miles
20K mile Service: 25 May 2000 @ 16,700 mies
30K mile Service: 28 December 2000 @ 30,487 miles
40K mile Service: 27 June 2001 @ 38,422 miles
50K mile Service: 22 March 2002 @ 49,640 miles
60K mile Service: 12 November 2002 @ 58,996 miles
70K mile Service: 14 August 2003 @ 69,585 miles
80K mile Service: 18 November 2003 @ 79,934 miles
90K mile Service: 8 September 2004 @ 90,461 miles
100K mile Service: 27 July 2005 @ 102,317 miles
110K mile Service: 28 May 2006 @ 111,504 miles
120K mile Service: 6 October 2006 @ 121,000 miles
(Vehicle has 122,365 Miles on the ODO)
Has been maintained at Auto Wagner: Volvo in Wiesloch, Germany since NEW, as well as having these inspections signed off in the book and stamped by the company there is also a slew of reciepts for Oil changes every 3k-3.5k miles. I am calling them in the morning to get whatever details they have on what has been fixed. I will be the second owner and the car is pretty much flawless. I am just concerned about the ETM as previously mentioned by S70. With all of this documentation do you guys forsee a problem? Like I said I will try to get whatever info the dealer has on the maintenance records in the morning. Good deal for $9K?

If you want a nice car get a 95-97 850 turbo model of some kind. or a 98 s70 or v70 turbo model of some kind. Or a LPT or HPT c70.
