Greetings From The Mojave Desert
Hello,
I own an early 2004 Volvo S40 that I bought from Enterprise Car Rentals in 2005. This was my second car from Enterprise and it felt great to get it with 19,900 miles for $19,900. I loved driving this car and the people at Palm Springs Volvo are great. Especially, Mike in the parts department.
However, as time goes by, the Honeymoon experience is gone too. Over the years, I've had a '65 Mini Cooper, a Datsun B210, a Honda Civic, a Toyota SR5 p/u, a Ford Escort GT, and aMercury Villager. They all have had their fair share of problems. But this S40 have more "check engine" lights than all of the others combined.
My S40now has 68,000 miles. I have been more faithful to perform proper scheduled maintenance on this car than any other. I have replaced the MAP sensor, the temperature sensor, sheered off wheel nuts & studs, etc. The SRS light reported the need to replace the passenger side air bag at only 45,000 miles. AND LIGHT BULBS! I carry spare light bulbs in the glove box. The current problem that caused me to look for a forum is the heater blower is full on in every setting.
I've read about Volvo's reputation for dependability, durability, longevity, etc. I’ve read about the enthusiasm of Volvo owners, and the innovation of Volvo engineers. I haven’t lost heart just yet. My daughters gave me a toy Volvo XC90 to remind me that we are still a Volvo family and the XC90 is supposed to replace our Mercury Villager, someday.
Perhaps, I’m too isolated with my troubles and being a member of this forum will help me and my car.
Sincerely,
Kevin
