Hi there. I'm currently in the market for a volvo.

Right now i drive a 2006 Nissan 350z. I love this car and hate to get rid of it, but lets face it....i'm growing up and am looking to get into something a little less expensive, more practical and BIGGER!

I recently found a 1999 S80 w/ 120k miles for about $5,000, but after doing some research i've found that the S80 from 99-01 is not a very reliable car and has a lot of cons. So with that knowledge i did some more research and I am now looking to get into a S60.

I'm looking to spend less than $8,000 on the car.

What year do you guys recommend?

Any issues w/ the S60 that I should know about before purchasing?

Any signs that I'd be able to notice during a test drive/walk through of the vehicle?

I live in the chicagoland area, so if anyone knows of anyone trying to get rid of a S60 i'd be happy to consider checking out the car.

Thanks for your time and hopefully i'll be a part of the Volvo owner community.

Welcome to the forum. I just sold my 04 S60R to get something more fuel efficient for the same reason as you are getting rid of the 350z. I have to say that the S60 was a great car and I would definitely recommend one. If you want a FWD one, just get something that is 03 or new. If you want an AWD one, get and 05 or newer. Also, make sure it is a turbo model because the non-turbo one is soooooo slooooowwww.
