Just bought a 93' 850. Advice?
Hi guys, just picked up my first Volvo (I'm a VW guy at heart), I saw it and couldn't help myself. Bought it from an older gentlemen who had owned it for a decade and babied the crap out of it. All the belts, water pump, exhaust, wheel bearings, tie rods...everything had been done in the last year or so. Had a pair of winter tires in the trunk, as well as cans of volvo brand touch up paint, brake pads, a spare alternator and four new in box oil filters, as well as a jug of new oil. He was just that kind of guy, everything was just so. Driver's seat has been reupholstered in new leather. Everything.
Has some minor issues; slight leak around the sunroof, srs light on the dash (apparently he took the horn off to clean the contacts and it came on, can I turn this off with an obd1 reader?) little things.
My questions are pretty simple, other than lowering springs which look like they'll only drop me an inch or so, what's the best way to lower it? Will coils work or are they some strange proprietary Volvo system in the back end?
Any basic mods that should be done for performance or daily drivability? Will post photos when I get some in the light.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Glad to hear that a "car guy" got the 850. These cars deserve good owners.
If I were you, I'd keep the car bone stock. Just don't see the point in putting $$$ into a car that is great as it. Drive it a few months and keep your eyes open for a 850 Turbo, swap or buy it then put money into it. The turbo's are so much fun to drive and your mod money will NOT be wasted.
Do enjoy...

There is a diagnostic port under the hood that should let you reset the SRS light.

I did on mine. Was almost to the point of taking it in and paying for it when I found out.
That wasn't the best link for OBD diag.
