I just joined and am glad I did. Lots of great information. I have a 1999 V-70 cross country awd and just love it. Great car to drive, but don't get to to often because it's the wifes car. I have a thunking noise underneith and am wondering if it is possibly the struts, I can't see anything loose anywhere. My wife also heard something about a recall lately and am wondering if anybody else has heard anything? Thanks so much for the help and the great site!!!!!!!!!!!! Bill

 

Try turning the 13/16(21mm) nut on the top of the strut under the hood.
If it turns easy then the upper spring seat is bad.If not then look at the sway bar links.With it on jack stands pull on the sway bar and feel if there is any play.If so they are bad.
