Default New 2001 S80 T-6 Exec Owner

Just bought an '01 S80 for my son, after he totaled his '04 Mustang. Wasn't looking for anything in particular, just something that the insurance money would buy, and I found this car for $4900 OTR, and seemed like a good deal. It only has 103k miles on it, and almost everything seems to work. The dealer is fixing the tilt wheel lever, and the rear sunshade only works intermittently, but other than that, it's in great shape. Anything I should look for on this car? I've really liked Volvo, especially since the newer more aerodynamic styling. Thanks guys, and I'll probably be asking some questions in the future.

Wow! Pretty nice. Never seen an Exc edition.

Has the timing belt been replaced?

Thanks, I don't know about the timing belt, is that a common problem with the 2.8 twin turbo? I'm planning on taking it to the dealer for the first service, hopefully they can give me some history on the car.

The timing belt is not a "problem" just routine maintenance that can destroy the motor if it is neglected and breaks. Same situation with most cars.

The picture quality is pretty good, for 13 year old tech. It even had a day/night button on the console to change the brightness. The Pioneer DVD player is in a compartment in the console. It also has a TV mode, but since the channels are now broadcast digitally, it doesn't pick up any stations. I guess a digital converter would work, but I don't think it's worth the effort. The rear seats are very comfortable. The fold option has been removed in order to get a couple of more inches of leg room. There is also a small refrigerator built in behind the console, big enough for a couple of wine/champagne bottles, that my son had better not use. I think it only works when the AC is on. It's a pretty sweet ride.
