New 240dl owner
Hello everyone
I just purchased my first Volvo, its a 1990 240DL automatic trans that I bought from one of my cousins costumers. The old lady who use to own this car is the first owner, unfortunately she lost her license this year ( she is on her late 70's ) and sold the car to me for $900. The car is in perfect conditions the only thing I had to do is put new brakes and rotors witch were rusted due to the car siting for a few months, it has only 65,500 mil and from what I have been told this cars go forever. I love the way the car drives is really smooth and comfortable and I like the mpg's too. I plan on keeping this car for a long time so I'll be on this forum often helping and asking for help.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
This is likely the lowest maintenance cars of all time. That was back in its day. I was putting over 25,000 miles on my red block for over 17 years and it was costing me $178 per year. I had over 400,000 when I let it go for a 960.
Have fun and again, welcome.

I love how easy is to work on this cars I'm doing a tune up on my car tomorrow and I was surprised how inexpensive the parts are, plus I get the repair shops price since I work there, I must say its also fun working on this car, I love the simplicity.
400k mil is a impressive number RSPI ill be happy getting half that number from my car.

This era Volvo was the first I ever spent any time under on a lift. What a revelation! It was so easy to work under because of the space and uncluttered layout. It reminded me of the 1940s and 50s cars for simplicity and function.
