Morning all, I just bought my second 850 Turbo Wagon in 3 months. My first was a red 1996 with 200622 miles (or at least that is when the odometer stopped counting!). Loved it, fixed a leaky fuel injector, bought new tires, new front rotors and pads, replaced the ABS module to fix the speedo and she went like an express train. I planned to use it as a 20 mile a day station car but had so much fun driving her that I skipped the train and drove the Volvo the whole way instead. Last Tuesday, a deer introduced itself to me at 65 mph on the Taconic State Parkway. I guess she was running full tilt through the woods and leapt onto the highway from the verge, as the first I saw of her was landing on the hood and that was that. In another car I may well not be here to tell the tale. The Volvo still started up but the insurers said no and I had to say a teary goodbye.
The red one cost me $650. Yesterday I picked up a blue one of the same (love the wagon shape) for an outrageous $1000.00 with only 168K on the, still working, odometer. This one has the Turbo wheels and is in better overall condition although I will really miss the red paint. I'll start working though the usual list starting with tires today. Faulty cruise control on this one and the engine temp is low on the gauge so I am researching those first.
My very first Volvo was a '76 244DL in the UK which I traded from my brother for 7 CDs, nice to be back in the Volvo family!
