New in Essex with V70 All Road 2003
Hi there!
I have a great V70 All Road 2003 which has developed a rattle on the front suspension and need advice where to take it for repairs.
I think it is worn ball joints or steering arms as the tyres are wearing on the outer edges. It is a rattle not over bumps, not a thump or banging noise.
Any advice would be greatly received.
I have replaced the rear suspension and plan to keep the car for a long time so proper repairs and upgrades will be done as cash allows!
TIA
Nigel

rattles in the front suspension can be sway bar end links or the sway bar mount loosening up. could be worn control arm bushings or tie rods given your alignment issue but I'd also check the steering rack mounts. As you noted it doesn't thump going over bumps which is more typical of strut mounts. Rattles could also be something simple like a loose brake backer plate and unrelated to the alignment issue.
There's nothing magical or complex about Volvo front suspensions - so I'd think any shop with a lift should be able to do a proper inspection.
Can't help you find a shop in Essex UK, (assume you're not near Essex, Connecticut :-) )
