New to Forums; Suggestion for Brand Review Category
Hello Everyone,
Just created an account. Never been a Volvo owner, but I hope that will change soon, since I am in the market for a used Volvo.
What is attracting my wife and I to a Volvo is the reputation for safety (both due to statistics and also personal anecdotes), especially because one of our kids will be getting her license this year, and the other one will follow in 2.5 years. That's why I expected to see a whole section on Safety under Brand Review.
Perhaps such a category should be added?
Just a thought.
Beset,

Volvo set the standard for crash protection. Back when the Feds created crash specs, only two brands passed the initial testing: Volvo and the Fiat X1/9. Fiat had designed the car specifically to pass the test, Volvo just built a good safe car. The Feds had to back off their standards because no one else could pass.
Since then, imitation has been the sincerest form of flattery. Most makers have caught up to Volvo's vision of making safety a priority. Of course it may be that the Fed specs don't give them any choice. But it is also because people are paying a lot more attention to safety now than years past.
