Welcome to the forum, I hope you find it helpful.
Be sure to follow scheduled maintenance on your Volvo to get the most out of it, and make sure to have the timing belt & its pulleys & tensioner replaced at every 70,000 miles or 5 years.
BTW, you're the one on the right in the avatar, right?
.......just kidding[8D].

I think its great how so much information and so many different points of views and shared experiences about volvos can be accessed like this. I'm excited. I only have 3 volvo friends where I'm located.

Hi Volvomistress,
I am also from Charlotte, I have 2 sons one 21 and the other is 18.
So you are looking for a Volvo, well let me say Charlotte is full of them.
Craigslist seems to have some nice deals which is where I found my 95
854 Turbo $2800. with red exterior and charcoal interior, the mileage is
high now at 181k, but I ran a Carfax and saw the history and it has been
a Charlotte car its whole life. I also owned a 91 240D years ago, and
since parts and labor can be expensive I definitely stay away from the
dealerships. Usually I go online and find what and how something needs
to be fixed, order the part new (ipdusa, eeuroparts etc) or used
(Volvo forums, or eBay)and then install it myself. If I have anything too
difficult I use an Volvo independent mechanic who I have been using for
years. Hard to believe but they are honest and will only fix what is needed
at that moment, their names are Mike and Patrick Castrillon at MPG Imports
and the address is 4624 Monroe Road. After selling the 240D I had to try the
Saabs and Mike at MPG begged me to stay away, but I wouldn't listen.
My wife calls Saabs: Moneypits. So now we are back to Volvo and very happy.

OH MY GOD MICHAEL AND PATRICK ARE MY BOYSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! I love them. They are actually the mechanics I am considering buying this 740 from. lol. apparently they are trying to get rid of some cars since they sold the other shop. wow. Thats so funny.
well that's sounds like agood start. [sm=yeahsmile.gif]
I would be tempted to buy from them knowing their quality
of work. But also realize the longer you can wait the more
choices you will discover.
Good-luck.

Thankyou. uhm. I've given it a little bit of thought here over the past few days. and I think for now I will just stick with a dependable daily driver. not sure what though. I've seen some pretty 850 sedans around town recently. Might just get one of those. If I was working with more money...... that would be another story! But for now, I think the key word should be reliable/inexpensive.
