I just got my first Volvo 1975 164E. I hope this is the right forum to help educate me on this classic old Volvo. I live in Eaton Ohio I bought the car outside of Cincinnati and tried to drive it home some 40 miles. didn't quite make it. 14 miles short of the house i think the injectors or something in the fuel system clogged. It acted like it ran out of gas (still shows 1/2 tank). it will fire and partially run if i pump the throttle like a mad man, but once I stop pumping it shuts off.
I am not looking for help or answers right here I am just introducing myself and situation. Once I get it towed home and start looking at it, I will post for help as needed. I like to do my own work and am mechanically sound. I only take it to a shop when i don't have the tooling,equipment or time to do the repair/restore.

The 164 is a very cool volvo so I hope you get it going again. I am looking for a 242 GT at the moment. I know it is going to be a hard on to find but I have time.

 

It shouldn't be to hard to get it going again. It needs fuel pump, the mechanical one is disconnected and a PO put an inline electric on it. That one is not putting out enough pressure.
