Default New(to me) V70

I have always admired the Volvo Station Wagons, esp. the Turbos, and finally took the plundge. I set aside my T&C minivan and bought a 98 V70 T-5. It has alot of miles(145k) but seems in good shape. On the way home from the dealers, the dreaded Po410 code popped up. The dealer agreed to buy the parts(air pump, relay, and the EGR valve, I think) and I installed them quite painlessly. Now, all I have to attend to are some common problems, a broken tilt/telescoping lever, loose liftgate panel, and a few other odds and ends. One problem I do have is that when I start the car, it cranks for up to five seconds and them starts up. I am betting a fuel pressure issue. Oh yeah, I need to find a third row seat for it. Your forum is one of the reasons I bought a Volvo and I appreciate being a member, I just hope I can help someone out. Thanks, new member from Missouri.

Welcome from another wagon driver. I wonder how old those plugs are. I would be interested to know if the fuel filter was ever changed.

Exactly, the dealer, who specalizes in high end cars told me it was completely maintained before I bought it but that is tops on my list after I do a few other things. Thanks.

I pulled the #1 plug last night and sure enough, the dealer that ensured me all maintenance was up to date lied. It was a volvo plug and didn't look too bad but I'm going to change them and the fuel filter. He alo said that the timing belt and tensioner were replaced, I guess I better pull it down and check. Better safe than sorry. Thanks for the advice.

You can remove both covers and gain access to it.

You can not replace it by just taking the covers off, or you can"t on mine. Some time ago Tech advised me to take out the two bolts holding the steering shaft joint together under the dash. You will need to use an air tool to get them off. I haven't done mine yet but let me know how it goes.

Sorry forgot about that it has been a while. Most likely have to drop the column down some to slide the new one on.
