New and need input like Yesterday
I have a 2005 Volvo S80 with only 77,000 miles. Joe, the neighborhood mechanic says I have a blown gasket and I need to sell it to the auction and cut my losses before something else goes wrong with it.
The car runs fine but is blowing white smoke each time I turn it on. I plan to take it to the dealer tomorrow. I just need to know is it worth the cost to get the car repaired. Joe the mechanic wants it so he can take it to auction. RIGHT!!!
Absolutely no other issues with the vehicle and for real I drive it like a little old lady from Pasedena.

Hi Janneale, welcome to the forum. When you start the car cold, it will smoke because it's cold and running rich (more fuel so it will run smooth while cold). My question is, does it continue to smoke after the car is warmed up? You can make a video of it and post it on YouTube or somewhere, link it back here so we can see it. A lot of people think Volvos have bad head gaskets when they don't. Common mistake due to oil dip stick sludge from lack of long drives.
Head gaskets usually don't just go bad. They are usually damaged my motor service neglect or from the car overheating.
