New S40 owner
Hello,
today I just bought a 2002 S40...98000km on it.
I would like some impressions on the car as.....I used to be a hard core american cars only kinda guy. I am still driving a Buick Roadmaster....a V8 5.7l....so for me it si quite a change.
Today i entered a dealership and bought the S40. Why? cause it is a volvo.
What should i look for as far as problems? How reliable are they? Do they stand up for their name as Volvos? have i made the roght choice?
The 1.9T seems more than sufficient for my power requirements...interior looks ok.......brakes are amazing.
Any more info would really be appreciated. What about reliablity and maintenance costs.....
The forums just got 1 more user...

RE: New S40 owner
Welcome to the Forum. S40's are good cars. Things to watch for are coils, motor mounts, a/c control units. Use Volvo plugs for tune-ups as the cars dont seem to like aftermarket Brand X varieties. My 2002 is modified somewhat but is very reliable otherwise. I just put a battery in it this week which is the first thing I have done except routine maintenance and the a/c conrol unit which was inder warranty. Oh yes, go to a dealer and get your radio code in case you have to put a battery in it and you lose your radio presets, etc. BJ
