Hi, just bought a 2001 S40 in Torch Red with 73k original miles. The car is rust free, which amazing for NE PA. This is my first Volvo, but not my first Swedish car. Many years ago I had a 1967 Saab 96 that I loved. I have been a fan of many Volvos over the years and always liked the S40 and the bricks, of course. As well as all models that came before. I know that the S40 is somewhat of an orphan among Volvo aficionados but I think it's a great little car. I have been a VW guy for some time now and still love my MKIII Jetta 2.0. That will become my toy car now after 150000 miles of daily driver service and the Volvo is my new daily. I am somewhat surprised at the lack of aftermarket support it the US for these great little cars. I feel the engine has a lot of untapped potential for performance upgrades. Volvo is famous for detuning their turbo cars for the sake of reliability. So I guess it's gonna take some work to find vendors to fill the need. But, to tell the truth, I look forward to the challenge.
