Default New V70R Owner, Again!

Hi All,
Long time Volvo owner, but new to this forum.
Just bought a 1998 V70R! Canada car, 196K kilometers (121,790 miles), 1 owner since new, no accidents. All in all very well kept short of transmission... Currently being rebuilt!

Now that I have two V70's I think I better join this forum vs. lurking...

Volvo's have been in my family since 1968. I learned to drive in my dad's 1968 144 (BRG 4-spd) and then drove my Mom's 244 DL (most memorable for being quite slow...) in the early '80's.

Never thought I would own a Volvo until I saw the 2004 V70R in sapphire black w/ Atacama leather 6-sp. Wow!
Loved car so much I replaced it at end of warranty with a 2005 Silver w/ Nordkap 6-sp.
Then again with a 2007 sapphire black w/ Nordkap 6-sp!
Fantastic cars that were truly unique in NA - NOT an SUV but had the room, the looks, the performance, etc.
I track days my '05 several times with the only casualty being the motor mounts. Brakes were fantastic with pads changed to PF racing compound.
I still swivel my head whenever I see one.

I also own a 1999 V70 XC. 362,600 KMS. High miler but just did a bunch more repairs ($2,000+). This car is worth more to me and my family than to sell, so we'll keep it on the road.

Happy driving!

Wink

Sorry for the delay!

This in my 1999 V70 XC. 353,219 kms/219,480 miles.
I have 95% of the service records for this car and know all but the 1st owner. This car was originally purchased in Calgary, AL. I have owned this one since 2009 and my son has used it while going to school in central Okanogan, BC. It was driven hard and neglected for a few years under his ownership and has likely made several hundred trips up to Big White and back...
I now have it back at the Coast agian and decided to freshen it up for my daughter to drive. I may just regret this decision... Note new tires, brakes, used cat back and turbo, front suspension pieces and a long list of more to do!

This is my son's new 1998 V70R! Just bought it last weekend.
One owner Vancouver purchased car serviced by Docksteader. 196,00kms/121,789 miles.
Very, very good condition with no major accidents or insurance claims. Looks like left rear suspension was rebuilt due to some sort of accident and appears to have right rear corner bumper repair. Transmission is being rebuilt right now.
It needs some TLC and a couple parts but short of the tranmission issue, is very solid.

This is my 2005 V70R 6-spd w/ Nordkap. Gone! (Sigh) I first purchased a 2004 V70R black with Atacama before this one. When I realized that 2007 was the last year for this R model, I found the last 6-sp black with Nordkap in western Canada and bought that one. I drove all of these cars up to approx 90,000 kms and over serviced everything. The used car owners got a well driven but meticulously looked after car and I hope they avoided any major failures.
I absolutely LOVED these cars but cost of ownership did me in. I was so bummed that it has taken Volvo until 2014/15 to bring out another high performance car in the V50 Polestar but the auto transmissions are a downer. I can't do it.

BTW this was a killer track day car and totally surprised everybody! I loved pre-gridding first and watch everybody else complain that "the big Volvo" was going to be in their way. In 4 to 5 laps I was waving at those Boxster boys to move over and let me by in the passing zones! The trick was to take EVERYTHING out of the car from the front seats back (that is why the rear ride height looks so high) and swap in PF racing compound pads into the front brakes. Plus be super smooth!

Love it! I've just bought an 05 R 6 speed and just finished the stage 0 tune up and I'm already appreciating the confused looks on the faces of WRX and BMW drivers (etc..etc..)
when a Volvo station wagon gives them a spanking. Sleepers rule!
