Default New Volvo Owner

Hi all!

Just sold my Mercedes C Class as we have a new addition and needed the room of a wagon. Bought a 2001 Volvo XC70. Although the Volvo name has been associated with dependability and safety, I have read some of the posts and am now quite concerned about my purchase. I have had it just over a month and already have had some issues.

May need some advice in the near future.

Thanks,

Kev75

Welcome to the forum, Kev75.
I've been fond of the Volvo XC/V70 style for years andI have an '01 S60 myself. Hope you don't have too many issues with yours. My only quibble with Volvo is that I expected parts to last a bit longer, suspension mainly.

How many miles do you have on the clock? And what did you need to have done if you don't mind sharing?

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new buy.

The biggest thing that you can do for preventative maintenence is the timing belt every 70,000 miles and make sure the pcv system is clean. I would say replace it every 100,000-120,000 miles to be safe (it is cheap if you do it yourself).

Welcome to the forum.

When you have technical questions, please do a bit of in-forum research as you can often find answers via search. Also, be sure to post questions in the model-specific forum to receive accurate replies.

One of the major causes of breakdowns (with the exception of electronic/electrical problem) is neglected scheduled maintenance. Be sure to follow scheduled maintenance, and keep an eye on vital parts such as the timing belt & engine oil, etc...

Cheers,

JPN

Welcome to the forum. Keep in mind this is a Volvo message board and the majority of people come here because they have problems, and we try to help them with their problems. Very few of us are here without a problem. It's not common for people to come here and say "I have a Volvo vith no problems".
