Default New Volvo owner

Hi everyone - my name is Dave and I just bought a 1986 240DL wagon with 133,00 on it. I have always wanted this car and I got a pretty good deal on it so I had it towed home and began working on some small things it had ..... one being the Alternator was bad -- I replaced it and it is charging now but here is what else is a puzzle.

now it shows charging BUT, at idle I have the charge indicator light on and also when it glows dim so does the parking break light ..... giving a little rev in RPMS makes both lights go out .... as stated, the system shows 14.3 volts at the battery ...... the battery is 1 year old.

Anyways, maybe I can get some help though this group ... I want to get the bugs out of this 240 before I send the wife down the road in it .... I hate those phone calls being broke down in town.

Thanks for a great group !!

Welcome. Post in the 240 forum and I'm sure you'll get plenty of information on bringing it back to life.

Welcome to the forum Dave, I hope the problem has been solved via 240 forum. I believe the 240 forum is one of the busier ones, but in case if you do not receive replies quick enough, try General Volvo Chat.

Best of luck to you & your 240.
