new volvo owner and ETM problems
Hi,
I just bought a 2001 XC V70 and I wanted to introduce myself. I live in northern wisconsin where the nearest volvo dealer is 150 miles away. I was wondering if anybody was familiar with a good place to take my volvo for repairs in northern wisconsin, northern minnesota or U.P. area? Yesterday I was driving at around 60mph when the car suddenly slowed down on its own so I pulled over. When I would push the gas nothing would happen. It was then idling very rough. I turned the car off for a few minutes and turned it back on and it drove fine until later that day the same problem happened twice within a few miles of each other. Each time I was going just over 60mph. Based on this forum I'm assuming I am having a problem with my ETM. I plan on getting a diagnostic run on it this morning from a local car repair place that deals with mostly american cars. Is it possible for a local mechanic to replace the ETM if that is what is needed? Any help anyone could give would be great. Thanks

RE: new volvo owner and ETM problems
Your out of luck my friend. Sorry
VOLVO is the only place that can repair/replace your ETM. Yours should be covered under the 10yr. / 200,000 mile warranty. If not it will cost close to $1,000 to fix.
Also there is a new software update for the ETM, get that while your there. It should be free as well.
If your ETM has not yet been replaced have it done and get the new software as well.
Has your ETS (ETM) light come on yet? If not it probably will soon.
Go to Volvo and have it looked at.
Sorry you got to drive all that way, but they are the only people who can fix the problem with the ETM.
