Default Oil system problem

I am new to the forum and to Volvo's. We purchased a used 2003 Volvo S60. We had the car warning message for low oil pressure and stopped the car and had it towed. When it happened oil was all over the place. Something sounded like it broke. I got under the car and on the opposite side from the filter found some pieces of broken metal. I am not sure what it was that I was looking at. I can not find any picture of underneath the engine to identify the parts that are broken. Does anyone know where I can find the proper schematics? I have a Haynes manual, but not much help. Possibly oil pump or sump?
