So I just sold off my previous car earlier today and was looking for something newer agewise with modern comforts and features, and have settled on a late 80s early 90s red brick volvo and have my eye on about 8 or so in my area, the main one being a blue 89 740 gl. although theres a few more i will be looking at.

to clarify how a late 80s volvo is newer, my last car was a 73 nova nicknamed harlot that i took from a rust bucket with milk crates for seats that on a good day with an hour or two and lots of external help could start up, to something that was less rust buckety (i think) with seats (i even installed 2 of the 4 bolts on each) that went vroom really loud and threw you back as it proceeded to run mad dash in a (mostly) straight line... after replacing the water pump, power steering pump, transmission gasket pan, starter( turns out the bolt was broken off inside the block itself with nothing sticking out.. that was fun) a bunch of rewiring on the fans, blinkers, lights, air, the timing was way off. all in all rather fun. (and the police loved my half length dual straight pipes that ended in purple glasspacks... yet to this day have no tickets)

so i come to you guys because at some point im going to have the desire to make the volvo i get go vroom even faster. and want to know what to look for (besides staying away from the 97-98s and so on)
