Srs and airbag service
I need help bought a 03 s60 Volvo and was detailing the car and removed the driver seat and the passenger seat to vacuum underneath them. I turned the ignition system on to listen to the radio I seen that I had an SRS service urgent on the display and a airbag light thought it was from the seats not being plugged in so I paid no mind to it. Finished cleaning the car plugged everything back in SRS service urgent and airbag was still on took it to the dealership and $178 later was told that I broke both wires underneath the seats by unplugging them I’m having a hard time believing I broke 2 airbags at the same time. And all I did was unplug the main wiring harness that goes to the seat. Everything else on the power seat functions correctly but somehow I broke just the airbag wire.
not that uncommon to break a wire or connector under the seat. Just remember to disconnect the battery when doing the repairs, then you need an OBD scan tool capable of reading/clearing SRS codes (not all units do this).
Not that I no of all they said was they hooked it up and it said the airbags were broke. I took it to a Indy mechanic and he was able to go into the system and reset the codes. No srs and no airbag light. And my cost under $100. Dollars were as the dealer ship cost me 178. Independent mechanic from now on at least they will do some basic trouble shooting.
