Thinking of buying a 2001 s40 auto volvo
Hey so I might be buying this car second hand. It has 66,000 km’s on it. I was wondering if it’s a reliable car that’s fuel efficient and just worth it I’m general.
we've had a 2000 S40 in the family since new - now has about 120K miles. So far its been very reliable but has required many of the typical service problems be addressed. Car gets around 25 mpg with a mix of city/highway for us. 28 seems typical on a long trip. So far the repairs include 1) exhaust flex pipe replace 2) fuel pressure regulator 3) evap sensor (the one on the firewall) 4) side air bag replace 5) CEM replace 6) 3 of 4 coil springs replaced (4th just needs some garage time when my son is home with the car) 7) headlight bucket replaced (adjuster failed and that part's no longer available) 8) wire harness for ignition coil replaced along with coils/wires. 9) one brake caliper. Everything else for us has been normal maintenance - timing belt/pulleys, brakes/rotors, tires/alignments, fluid changes, replacing light bulbs etc. I've been using full synthetic for the past few years to keep the VVT clean.
