I love my 2012 Volvo S60. It has been relatively free of maintenance needs until a whammy hit in January.
Seems the timing belt tensioner failed at ~49K miles.
I checked in Warranty Info and found driving belt & tensioner are not inspected/replaced until 120K miles. So it seems like mine was a very early fail.
Does anyone know what would cause this?

I've seen several serpentine belts shred and get caught in the timing. You sure that isn't what happened?

 

Sure one to take up with a dealer or Volvo America

 

I saw the belt itself, and it did not appear shredded. Broken, yes.
