Hi all

I'm looking at purchasing a used 1994 960 sedan. The person selling it is my dad's Volvo mechanic. My dad has an ancient 625, I think it is. The mileage on the vehicle is 240 000 and looks very clean. The guy's going to change the timing belt because he doesn't know when it was done last. He's also replacing all the speakers because someone ripped them all out. He asking $1800, which includes the repairs he's doing. That's Cdn currency, I live in BC. About $1750 in US.

My dad's thrilled with it but he loves his old Volvo and he's probably biased because the mechanic is a friend of his and he tends to be narrow viewed when it comes to dealing with friends.

Could I get your opinion about whether this is a good buy? The guy says it doesn't need anything else replaced and nothing's coming up for maintenance. What other important things should I be checking out? I keep reading mixed reviews about whether this is a good car or not.
