Default Volvo 850 Turbo Engine Cradle (Sub-Frame)

Hello.
I am trying to find out what other Volvo engine cradle (sub-frame) from other Volvo will fit my 1996 850 Turbo. For that matter I would like to no if any of you guys can tell me if there are other models / years that have compatible transmissions as well. This looks like a nice forum by the way. It is the first one that I have joined.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Just stick with a 850 sub-frame. The tranny from the '96 and '97 are an exact fit. There are plenty of them to choose from. Why do you think you need a tranny?

Thanks rspi. Here are the symptoms of the tranny. Regardless of the shifter position the car can be pushed easily by hand. Not to mention that none of the shift positions will make the car move. The fluid is full. The engine also grinds when I try to shift it into park. It will go, but it acts like an old manual style when the teeth won't mesh. This problem started when I hit a chunk of concrete on the road and bent the control arm as well as the mount and the frame. I replaced the control arm and tried my best to correct the mounting bracket deformation. The car ran for about a year in this state before it started leaking at the driver side oil seal. I replaced both seals. The wheel alignment never returned to normal after hitting the concrete. I had it looked at the shop where I was informed of the bent frame. I did not have the time or funds to work on the frame at the time so I ended up just putting a new set of tires on as they quickly wore out. Eventually the tranny decided it didn't want to put up with this kind of careless ownership and gave up the ghost. So, there you have it. Comments?

See if it will drive if you select the WINTER mode. Other than that, I would simply replace the car. You can find them for $500 - $1,200 all day long.
