Default issue putting N/A S80 on the bottle:

Like I said, feeling out my options:

I'm thinking until I get some decent funds to do the turbo swap on my car, I'd like to do a low shot of nitrous (50-100 depending on the advice of my local shop for drag strip purposes only)with one of NOS's universal systems.

There's only run problem a fabricator friend is telling me:

He's saying that because of the design of the stock intake manifold, plumbing the intake for nitrous is risky because it'll blow out the intake manifold. This guy isn't familiar with Volvos, though. He does mostly hondas and japanese stuff. He looked at my car and that's what he was saying. Just need a 2nd opinion.

Does this mean that aside of having a custom intake fabricated I can't use an OEMmanifold on Nitrous? What about the 2nd design s80 intake after 2004 that redirects the throttle body directly into the stock airbox?

Opinions needed. Although I'm not understand what the design of the intake manifold has to do with spray.

I don't know what he is talking about the intake.

But 100 shot is too much. Even a 50 shot will be too much. Your going to blow something up for sure.

I suggest a 25-35 shot at the most.

Also I suggest you do all the research you can about Nitrous. Because if you don't and something goes wrong when using it your going to be out of the loop. And the more informed you are about Nitrous the better off you will be.

Seriously just keep saving your money for the turbo swap.

You will be sorry when you blow a piston through your hood.

I have to agree with S70driver here. If your car is NA and you are going to save up funds for a turbo anyways, then just keep saving up. I would put in the turbo before any nitrous. Nitrous can be very unreliable and if you went to another mechanic who deals with nitrous, he would probably point out something else that could blow up in the car (it is a S80, afterall).

I have a S80 T6 and I've considered the possibility of doing a low shot of nitrous, but if I ever save up enough money, I'm going to be doing every other possible upgrade (intake, exhaust, ECU, exterior mods, etc) that I can do before nitrous. For me, it's probably the last thing I would do to the car if I even did it at all.

I picked up the ZEX wet Universal 4/6 cylinder kit but have yet to even ask my mechanic to look at it (if I did it would be low 25-35hp shot as well). My engine has less milage then yours right now (I'm shy of 60K 2001 model) but since I'm missing some parts from the kit it will be awhile before I bother. If worse comes to worse I will save it for my second car later on (I plan on getting a performance car as a backup/purely tuner reasons later on in the next 2-3 years).

Helga are you considering a turbo install later on? The factory T6 one or something else?

yeah, eventually. Although I really think I'll do nitrous (low shot) before the turbo. It's more cost effective in my opinion,.

It's down the road once I get a job, which if everything goes well I'll be hopefully employed again by next week.

I'd setup the nitrous on your s80. Nice think about NOS is it's not on when you don't want it to and you can take the system off pretty easy should you want to go back to stock.

Yeah; I actually need to set aside some time this year to go throught the ZEX kit I did get (I got a nice deal for it since the parts I am missing shouldn't be difficult to get). And of course hunting for a place that will look at it and give me an estimate/opinion.

At any rate my "Fast and the Furious" itch has calmed down for the time being; alot of stuff has been going on(we had a new client transition into our CS dept that had us workign 60hrs-80 hrs a week,Anna Nicole diedreminding me of my age, OC ended, and then my favorite exotic dancer retired all in a span of 3-4 monthes[:@]).

Otherwise life is ok slowly saving up the moooooneeeeey....[8D].....
