CPU Usage 100%

CPU Usage 100%
Would someone please help me as I have not been able to figure out what is causing my computer to run so terribly. It seems that everything from opening internet explorer to opening various applications will cause my CPU usage to spike to 100% and stay there for several seconds before ramping down slowly back to lower numbers. I have checked my process and there is nothing out of the ordinary, just my explorer.exe tends to build up it's memory usage continuously until it reaches upwards of 300,000 k, at which point I usually end task on it, then re enter it in new task. Which is a temporary solution but as I said it eventually builds itself back up to ridiculous levels. I will post my hijackthis log to hopefully aid whoever might be able to help me with this problem upon request. Thank you in advance.

Have you done a virus scan? It seems that some add-on of iexplorer is causing the memory leak. Scan your drive for virus and malware. If nothing shows up, I would suggest using Firefox. All around it is a much safer browser. I made the switch - and I thought I never would - and I have found it to be superior in many ways.
BTW, how much system memory do you have? Is it at least 1GB Ram?

Ive had the same issues lately and re-image my machine as a result.
I believe it was IE explorer. whenever i restarted and went into IE, within 10 seconds of opening it, it would go to max cpu and basically freeze, if I didnt open it after a reeboot the pc would be fine until such time as I opened IE.
I didnt do much more troubleshooting as It was slowing me down so much I decided just to re-image and save myself the time.
im running a core 2 duo 2.0ghz with 3 gig ram so its not my pc, haha
