Default Handguns (What do you have and use)

I am interested in what you guys are using for handguns these days. Be it GLOCK, BERETTA, SMITH & WESSON, etc...

----------

I'm trying to get into a handgun right now for the new year. I have shot my dad's 9mm and his 380 handguns before. I liked both of them.

I am interested in high capacity, quality and a good name. Like GLOCK for example. in the GLOCK brand I am looking at their 9mm's and .40's.

My price range is like $500-$650 right now and yes that will get you a nice GLOCK.

I can't convince my wife either. My Dad always kept guns at home (pistols, revolvers, shotguns and rifles), and I wanted to get a couple for myself.

Unfortunately he ended up giving away most of his stuff to a friend because neither my brother nor myself would take them.

I have a Glock 17, but would not recommend it to a first time buyer.

I have a Remington 20 gauge with 18inch barrel that my fiance knows how to shoot, for home protection. Everyone thinks they needs 12 gauge for home defense, but at the distances you will reasonably shoot at, even 20 will rip through someone.

S&W Doug Koenig 1911 in .45 acp for competition, single stack in USPSA (IPSC) and CDP in IDPA ... Kimber TLE Custom II for carry and bedside, the night sights are the last thing I see when I turn out the light to sleep, very reassuring.

I have a Springfield Armory XD-45 and a Taurus Millenium .40. Both are subcompact and are great for carry/conceal but the Taurus fits the palm perfect!

FYI, IMO it's a freaking hand cannon. I only say it because it's so freakin loud.

S70 - EXCELLENT purchase decision.

Get fitted with some night sights and you have a great HDW.

Somthng - what do you think of your Taurus? I have always wanted one but have been concerned about build quality.

I have a PT145 Taurus Millennium .45 Cal. Has been reliable and solid. Small frame which is great for carrying concealed. A little on the heavy side when it has 11 rounds in it though...even with the polymer frame.

I used to carry a Walther P99 in .40. But the frame was full size and it was hard to conceal... however, it is a fantastic gun with great engineering.

Good luck with your Springfield. Heard great things about them. Reminds me of the Walther a little bit.
