Lightbulb Have you swapped your gauge cluster light? I'd like to hear from you!

*Edited in: My car is 1987 Volvo 740 GLE. pardon my omission*

I'm interested in replacing the light behind the gauge cluster because it seems to be really weak, and adjusting it with the dimmer **** does not give me the brightness I feel I need.

The interior light's gone out, and my driv/pass reading lights are fading as well, so if I'm in the market to replace 3, I may as well pick up the LED/bulb to do the gauges too.

LED Lights, Bulbs & LED Lighting Accessories - SUPER BRIGHT LEDS is the website I am currently looking for LEDs at, as a friend had good things to say about the selection, but if you've done LEDs from a different site and have good thoughts, I'd love to hear about that as well.

I've used superbrightleds 'festoon' bulb, I think its this one (BUT CHECK THE LENGTH!) in both 240 and 740/940 dome lights with GREAT success. way brighter than stock... I used the 'warm white' version
3710 LED Bulb - 6 SMD LED Festoon | Festoon | Specialty & Automotive | Universal LED Bulb Finder | Super Bright LEDs

I used this one in the 'reading' lights on my 740 with lesser success. they only come in cool white which is a little annoying, and the pattern aim is a little too high
194 LED Bulb - 1 SMD LED Wedge Base | Wedge Bulbs | Specialty & Automotive | Universal LED Bulb Finder | Super Bright LEDs

I've not tried to swap my instrument lights for LEDs, I usually run with them at about 30% bright, just barely bright enough to read on a dark road at night.

700s have great instrument lighting! Are you sure they are in good working order? The dome lights are not so great and may need some mods but the pod lights should be fine. All 700/900 cars I have had were too bright to ever have them at 100%, may be 50% max...

I've recently replaced light bulbs in the instrument cluster of my 240 wagon. I've ordered diodes from the same web page you are listing, choosing the intermediate option (there were three choices, I opted for the one with intermediate price). My experience:

1) Soldering the diodes in place of the old light bulbs was tricky, even though I had a soldering iron of moderate size

2) Brightness is fine for me, but not very spectacular even though I keep the corresponding **** on maximum. Presumably with the most expensive option it would be better.
