A little Bad News!!!
I hit a retread on I-4 I believe a few years ago, it busted my drivers side rear view mirror up pretty good. I didn't have to money to fix the thing so I just left it, all cracked up, until fortunately someone t-boned me in the left front quarter panel. It was replaced by their insurance when that damage was fixed. I got lucky
.
.
I-4 really sucks for stuff like that.
One other time in my Mustang I had a truck drop alot of quarter size rocks and they bounced off the front of my car. Then got stuck in traffic and lost the truck.

You know folks, I can sympathize with this. I have hit a "gator" twice now, and it is amazing the amount of damage they can do. Yep, they should be outlawed.
Now to a suggestion in the spirit of giving/christmas....
Tech has helped hundreds of us save untold amounts of money, grief and vehicle downtime with his expert help and knowledge.Maybe it is time we give a little back.
If Tech would be willing to give us an address/PO box, or something else, I would like to propose those of us who he has helpedchip in some funds to help him not only get the car repaired, but to also help him along with some of his mods.
What do you all say?
Glenn

Dear Glenn,
I too, have been wondering if I could donate some for Tech, but it would have to be direct from us to Tech, not through the forum I believe. Tech deserves a lot more than people think.
Too many people today have become self-centred beyond our imagination, and one would have extreme difficulty just think of someone like Tech; I myself don't know of anyone else who is as giving & helpful as Tech, not even close.
Tech:
I am willing to donate some, though it may not be much as I'm making less now than I did in Chicago (welcome to J@p@n[8D]). If you could pm me your P.O box & last name, I can just send you a mail as Mr. & Mrs. family name. Also, I would save that damaged bumper; it doesn't look as bad as I thought. The crack seems to be repairable with special glue (I believe the bumper is ABS-plastic, in which case a glue for conventional plastic wouldn't work), epoxy or soldering. I remember that a book I read in the past suggested repair on a cracked cowling on motorbikes, and the method uses high-wattage soldering iron. Or, you could drill a tiny hole and use self-threading screw (wood screw, etc...) to mechanically attach the crack. The process would be:
1. Wash-dry-polish/file.
2. Glue, solder or screw-together the crack.
3. Repaint.
Step 3 requires more than what you have, as the colour has to match exactly, and only body shops would have the necessary info, equipment & expertise. This process alone could cost quite a bit. The downside of the entire situation is that it is definitely a time-consuming process. Either way, I still wouldn't trash that bumper, as you may someday come across a book ora person who could guide you with the repair.
That's the reply of the day

Hey guys,
I agree. I've talked with Tech on this before and suggested he ask the admins about it. He was told that people could do it through PMs.
Tech, do you have a Paypal account? If so, you should send a PM to everyone on here with your email address for the Paypal account... (and then delete these posts the same way you had to last time).
I hope you have a great Christmas!

damn Tech that sux. i had a hit a house window sized piece of plywood on the road one time in my neon and it took the whole passenger side of the front bumper off! the plywood became airbourne after a pick-up truck ran over it and allowed an air pocket to get under it and thats when i hit it at 60 mph.
anyway, sorry about your damage, but i do have a friend who has been in the autobody collision repair buisness for close to 20 years in the rosemont area. if you wanna see him lemme know and i'll tell him your a good buddy of mine and it may not cost you too much to get that bumper fixed professionally.
