Default Sharing my experience-DONE

Hi guys. Im still in the middle of my s40 engine swap project. But i have learned so much so far about its parts and their location and how to take them off and back on etc that i feel able to help you locate parts like the thermostat or the knock sensor etc.
Also many of my friends find it unbelievable that i was able to take the old engine off from the bottom and intalled the other engine with just 2 small hydrolic jacks, a 🔨 and a piece of wood. And of course a lot of precision.

So long story short i divided the engine in 3 parts: took the oil pan off ( since there is no interfering cross members!!) Then i took the cylinder head off and finally detached the engine block from the torque converter. Rest it on top of the jack with a piece of wood and slowly dropped it down. The hammer helped me tap the jack firmly left and right while balancing the engine with one of my hands. Crazy right? Then lowered it down and kind of wiggled it out of the car ;D

Anyways let me know if you have any questions and hopefully i am able to answer them.

I also replace the entire interior of the s40. So you can also ask about it. The SRS are going to play a major role here.

Thanks for reading!!

UPDATE:
The source of the noise was on cylinder 5.

I bought a #stethoscope and used it on theexhaust pipes to ttack the noise down.

Took the oil pan off. Went directly to cylinder 5 and Booom!! The piston rod and cap were "dancing with the stars" since the rod bearing was thinned out.

I replaced the cyl.5 rod bearing PLUS the rest of them.

From cyl.2 to cyl.4 the bearings were scratched really bad. The crankshaft was not damaged tho.

Cyl.1 was virtually in immaculate condition.

Thanks to #firebirdparts for the suggestion!!

In case you need to do the same job on this exact engine the torquing proceidure goes like this:
1st Step: Torque to 15 Nm
2nd Step: Torque to 25 Nm
3rd Step: Angle tighten 100°

I will keep updating this post until my s40 is bqck on the road.
