Volvo xc90 2004

Hey guys I just recently brought this car from a friend and it was driving good at first but now it won’t start. I’ve replaced the battery and the starter. It’ll start up make some weird noises run for a while then turn off. I noticed when I actually drive the car it doesn’t turn off it continues to run? Could this be the alternator?
