Some times when replacing the rotors some hardware gets forgotten, And even a silly bolt that helps along the rim , also helps with the proper balance of the wheel, maybe I'm over thinking it and you should rotate all tires and see if it continues

Default What I did Today

I've had my V50 T5 for 3 weeks now and well today i did the the following

- TCV replacement
- Upgrade of vacuum hoses to silicon

Then had to do the following as a result of snapping the hose nipple in the inlet manifold

- Remove and clean airbox and intake
- Sparkplug change seeing as everything had to come off
- Clean of the throttle body
- Clean of the intake
- Refix nipple to the intake
- Degrease the skid plate and underbody ( was pretty tidy )

Getting the airbox out is a pain and I have promised myself to change intake system at some stage even though it probably wont make a difference, just the future ease of working on the car would be worth.

Already completed

- Oil and filter change to full syn
- Radio and dash language change ( Jap import in NZ )
- Full diagnostics scan for any error codes ( none )
- Cabin air filter change ( PIA for RHD )

And to come as funds permit

- Intercooler upgrade
- Charged air system upgrade
- Intake upgrade
- CBV upgrade
- Wastegate upgrade
- Downpipe change
- Exhaust change
- Custom tune once all is in ( ARD, RiCA or similar )

Cheers have a good one

I have a son who will soon be 16, and I want to buy volvo xc90 2011. I have a 2009 volvo xc30 but for kids all the best is how do you think I'll make the right decision about buying such a car to him? . What types of insurance policies exist for minors and how does it work?Or can give it to me and pick me up a new one Thank you

I just got my used 06 S40 2.4i today, lol, it looked pristine but I pulled down the rear seat console and reached behind it to find where the PO’s kids were stuffing their used retainer rubber bands 😂

Default Headlight lens (semi)restoration

While it didn’t take all of the oxidation off, considering that all I did was worked a small amount on with a sponge then buffed it out, it did alright 👍

Wha?
Swapped a (busted) headlight out for a new one recently, and the broken shards gave me a clue the headlight was made of GLASS.

Oxidation on plastic lenses... yes.
Oxidation on glass? Not so much.

Can it be that Volvo bestows glass on only select models?

That’s possible, or these could be aftermarket I don’t know.

New guy here... I bought my 2007 V50 about a month ago, been fixing little things since then. Had a major service done at 120,000 miles, belts and hoses replaced and good to go for a while.
Today:
replaced low beam bulbs and cleaned headlight projector lens, much better now.
replaced rear sway bar links, rides better and no more clunking sound in the turns.
replaced the auto shifter blind. It looks better and I now have use of the M+/- function.
changed oil and filter.

i still have some less critical items on the 120,000 service to complete. I can say that I’m pretty happy with my V50.

I'm just looking for a new insurance policy. Do you know what are the best parameters to choose car insurance? Some sites, like general insurance, provide lists of such companies but who can prove if they are true-to-life?

Default old question

I just saw this post this minute (April 24, 2018).

All I can offer is that Liberty Mutual sent me a check instantly when I had a claim years ago.

Not real data, I know. G&K

Default Finally got me a 745...

And drove it the 100 miles home.

Changed the oil... air filter... flame trap... stapled the headliner... washed it.

Interior in fairly typical for a 27 year old car but it's got low miles...221k. And the body is in good shape. No rusted out floorboards like my 244. Its a good neighbor my '89 744.

Much rather drive a box than a brick. Hubcaps have been switched out to oe Volvo caps.

Just drove it. This 2012 S60 is reliable and maintaining free other than oil changes and the new tires.

Replaced the black plastic triangle panel that fits into the driver window. 2 of the 3 pins had busted (previous owners too rough).
Also expecting replacement shifter and emergent brake shrouds in the post. (Ebay has a good selection.)

I'd love to install a set of new rear door speakers (had to get baffles owing to door cavity leaking on speakers).
But I forgot the wiring polarity my installer set. Did he say the wire with writing was positive or negative?
He blows off emails and won't answer his damned phone!

Default Today I discovered new joys to diesel ownership

So today I did some electrical work under the hood, old wiring n such. I decided to do some load testing at start since my battery wasn't coming up to charge like it should. Rather, like someone who does not know diesels expects it should. This is my first foray into the land of the dieselasaurus and my ignorance far exceeds my knowledge. I discovered that my 70 amp hour battery that cost an arm is not enough to support daily driving for my D24 powered 240 wagon. My glow plugs draw over 60 amps slowly dropping as they heat up. Drive, stop, cool, start cycles over like 5 punch my battery directly in the nuts. The 88 amp hour battery I need costs an arm and a leg. It also weighs as much as I do. Yay for diesels!

checked the transmission fluid and added 1/2 L of ATF also a 1/2 L engine oil
Wife said it is a lot quieter with the new wheel bearings and no studs

Just installed rear passenger door panel. Last couple of days had been drilling out holes into the oem speaker screen, after enlarging the hole to accommodate new speakers. Fortunately the screen is manufactured with half-way holes, so that drilling out new ones to the enlarged diameter is straightforward. But still no easy task owing to the shards that occlude holes until re-drilled, and re-re-drilled from both sides. Marked the larger diameter by applying lipstick to the speaker and pressing the door panel against that to mark where I needed to cut.

Upload/download photograph failed at 90% twice.
