I suppose we all have our pet projects we are working on. A little bit here, a little there. Sometimes we stall a while until we can figure out the best step to take. So I was thinking we could have a thread sharing what we are working on, maybe someone wants to share a problem they need advice with, someone can chime in with some insight, and help each other that way. I don't know if this thread will gain any traction but I am willing to share my project.

I need to upgrade my surveillance equipment to higher definition cameras to cover some high-theft areas. I currently have 4 cameras on CCTV running D1 (which is typical but poor resolution for my needs) on one always-on dvr server. I have 2 HD cameras that only run when I start and stop them because the files are huge and it uses a high level of CPU. I run those two cameras on a 6-core PC. I was thinking of changing over to IP cameras but I don't have experience with how much bandwidth a few HD IP cameras might use. Anyone running megapixel IP cameras to an nvr? If so, what equipment did you choose and what software are you running with it?
