DPS-A drives 400hrs, metal shavings in lube and chunks out of gears
Hello, I have a Cobalt 302 with twin 5.7GXI and DPS-A 1.95 drives. Had new cone clutches installed around 40 hours ago and had water intrusion at that time. The dealer replaced all o rings and seals, and 40 hours later, I have water intrusion again. After further inspection, both prop shafts are work down, the gears have chunks out of the tips, and the bearings are scarred. The shop is recommending buying new or rebuilt drives over trying to replace all of the parts.
Volvo has new ones listed at $12k each, but I found the same drives at MarinePartsExpress.com for around $8k each with a 1 year factory warranty. Does anyone have any experience with this company? Are they a certified Volvo resaler and is that warranty actually through Volvo? I have tried calling with no luck so figured I'd ask on here. Thanks in advance
