Default Looking for a 240 Wagon

I am currently looking for a 240 wagon in good shape. A/C must work and miles cannot be crazy high. It's fo my daughter and grandson.

Not looking to spend alot of money....I know I want the world but I have to ask. Right?

Hard to tell what part of the country you are located in. My comments apply to trying to buy what you describe in the northeast.

Prices have bottomed out here and are climbing. A 240 wagon like you describe, reasonable mileage, newer 240, in good shape, little to no rust, A/C that works, will cost you $4,000 to $5,000. How do I know this?

Last December I sold my 1991 240 sedan for $3,800. It had 130,000 miles, had spent most of its life in Florida, N.Carolina and Virginia so no rust, the engine, transmission and interior had been well-maintained, the A/C did NOT work, the exterior clear coat had failed so the hood, roof and trunk had faded paint, and the left front fender had a serious dent where a tree had fallen on it. It also really needed the windshield replaced. If it had been a wagon, I might have gotten $5,000.

The days of picking up what you describe for $1,500 to $2,000 here are long gone.

Hope this help and is not too discouraging.

A cheap 240 is certainly possible, my 245DL was listed for $1000 and I got it for $200. Broken AC, unknown high number of miles, etc. In my area, ones with what you want are in the $2-3k range.

You can find a decent one in 2000-3000 range but you need to look elsewhere. Everyone thinks their 240 is worth its weight in gold. Forums are not really a great place to buy or sell Volvo's.

Here are a few from the central Florida area:

volvo 240

89 Volvo 240/245 wagon

1993 Volvo 240 wagon GL

$2K - $3K Range for something decent in this area. Craigslist is your friend.

Any consideration for the 850, S70, S90, 740, 940, etc.? I have an 850 now that is simple to work on and VERY reliable at 208K Miles. fcpeuro.com & ipdusa.com are great for parts.
