2004 Volvo XC70 182k $750 OBO - Mechanic Special / Engine Needs Replaced
My wife and I have loved our '04 XC70 were intending to drive it for many more years. We are the second owners of the vehicle (we've had it 2.5 years). Previously it was owned by a now-90-year-old lady who took good care of it and kept it in a garage all the time. Other than the engine, take a look at this sweet, comfy, and well-equipped vehicle in amazing condition!
We've changed the synthetic oil based on the Volvo recommendation of 7,500 miles and have kept it in good working order, but I recently learned from a Volvo pro in the area that he highly recommends a much tighter interval due to "sludge" cropping up in the motor (it's a turbo 2.5L, 6th & 7th VIN numbers are 59). Replacing the engine has be quoted at around $3000 from multiple sources and it's tragically not worth the cost to us. I've come here to hopefully find a way to get some value out of the vehicle and also help an XC70 enthusiast out with a vehicle that could easily be turned into a very usable, safe car or used for many good-condition parts.
Here's the only other defects in the car:
- Dented on driver's door at the handle, no paint chipped (see photo)
- Crack running through the driver's window
- Rusted muffler mounts
- We had to have one of the rims welded last summer
It's currently in Fort Wayne, Indiana and it should likely be towed, though you could attempt to drive it at your own risk--it does start, it's just very noisy!
See pictures for a better idea of the great condition the car is in--despite the fact that it hasn't been detailed or washed lately.
Thanks!
