I picked up this 1994 850 wagon a few months back as a daily driver for my girlfriend. It was extremely neglected, and needed a lot of repairs and deep cleaning.
New parts/repairs in the last 90 days include:
The positive result of making these repairs and cleaning out the PCV system was obviously more power, less oil consumption, and a better breathing engine. Unfortunately, the added compression/power had a negative side effect. The car recently developed a head gasket leak. I have found water on the oil dip stick, and the coolant in the overflow reservoir has a bit of oil mixed in with it. I have also noticed oil on the firewall after driving the car at full operating temp.
The timing belt also looks to need attention. I have not removed the cover to inspect the belt, but the service sticker appears to read October of 2000. Naturally, the timing belt and it's components would need replaced while replacing the head gasket anyway.
I am still driving the car about 18 miles a day, and it is still running rather well. I am not sure I can continue to do this for much longer, and I definitely cannot afford to make the repairs needed. I would prefer to sell it and use the money toward something else. Probably smaller, and more economical.
The car is in otherwise decent condition. It has the typical quirks of a mid 90's 850. I have a clean Indiana title, but the mileage is exempt due a broken odometer.
I am asking $875.00 or best offer. If you are an out of state buyer, I would recommend bringing a trailer or some other way to haul the car home. Please PM me with any interest in the car.
Below are some recent pictures from 12/11/2011, including the alignment printout from last Friday.
If you need pictures of anything specific, please let me know and I will be happy to post them for you.
Thanks for looking.
