Default Volvo S60 2006 HID replacement - problems!

Hi there,

I am a huge volvo fan from Poland / Europe.
Before I had two V40s and for few weeks I am a proud owner of S60 from 2006 with 2.5T engine.
I was trying to obtain this info in Poland, but I failed.

Therefore I am asking further

Please, keep in mind, that I was seeking for information on polish forums, here on volvoforums.com, and google as well.
Please do not put here any info that does not concern 2006 year (ie. famous link with drilling CEM).

I was trying to put 35Watt HID kit to my S60, the lights lit for just one second only, the famous error message is displayed: low beam failure.
The kit was with error canceller.

Questions are:

1. Has anyone a 35Watt Kit in S60 2006 that works without error message?

2. Has anyone a 55Watt Kit in S60 2006 that works without error message?

There are few topics here about HIDs in S60, but I could not find ones concerning 2006 year (or generally 2005+).

If you know someone has this combination, please let me know, I will contact him thru private message.

If I find an answer here, I will spread it also in Poland, cause we still do not know, if the only was to put HID into 2006 S60 is CEM re-programming.

dude, even though i am not professional in HIDs, i just post my idea here..

firstly, as i checked 35w HIDs fitting to stock headlights for S60 06, do you get H11 35w HID kit for low beam and H9 35w HID kit for high beam???

if yes, check out whether the ballasts and bulbs are decent good ones and your connection wirings....

if no problems to your HIDs , as you mentioned above, when you turn on your low beam, it shut off after one second....it might be the error code send out by computer then shut off your low beams....

you can get a error canceller for HID to delete the error code and make ur bulbs work well....
and you also can get a relay harness installed to prevent ballast overload due to high temperature, power spike, and irregular voltage.

i am not so sure whether you get all what i mean .... just hope it can help..

beachboy, we are on the same page

problem is:

this is widely known Volvo S60 2006 reaction for 35 Watt HID.
It will not work.

The only question is: does anyone put a 55W kit into his car?

From what I heard, the 55W kit is only a gimmick, cause if you plug it in into electric meter, it will show you max power of 35Watt.

As for know, people in Poland tend to believe that computer reprogramming is the only way to make it work...

Simple HID kit here cost around: 150 PLN = 38EUR + you need to install it by yourself.

When you order this in not authorised garage station, it cost 800-1000PLN (200-250EUR) (BOSH hid kit + CEM reprogramming).

I was wondering if people abroad could know more...

I hoped maybe somebody from this thread has already installed it:

Low beam failure

i have an 05 s60 with 35hid in it. i had the same problem with my car and its because the headlights are constantly on and it burns something with the hids out. i had to go back to the shop that put my hid in and have an extra power converter put on and i have no problems with the lights anymore.

i dont think it is the problems of your headlights constantly on and might burn something out... it is ur last power converter

as some saying goes that some of VVME 55W HIDs are assembled by 35w bulbs with 55w ballasts ? is it real 55w HIDs ????
