Hello guys, I have a volvo v70 2.5t 2003, and sometimes, only when the engine is hot, there is a nasty grinding noise after the engine starts. Its a high to low pitch grinding noise, matching the rev drop after start. It only lasts maybe half a second. It's still audible when idle revs are reached, but then sounds more like a rotten bearing, it completely dissapears a couple seconds later. I have not heard anyone with these symptoms. Does anyone recognise this?

edit: it's a manual, pressing the clutch while starting the car doenst help. The starter has also been replaced.​​​​​​​

 

My thought would be to check the water pump. We had that same thing happening on our S60 with the 2.5T. Pump seized and shredded the timing belt. Not good.
