Default 1980 240 Fuel Pump

I don't have an early 240 manual handy. Does anyone know what is involved in testing and possibly replacing the fuel pump in a 1980 240. Thanks.

1980 is pretty old, is that K-Jet, or is it early LH ? LH uses around 40PSI, while K-jet is over 60PSI.

either way, you disconnect the fuel line where it goes into the fuel pipe (LH) or fuel distributor (K-jet), connect a T to a fuel pressure gauge, and run the car (or manually run the fuel pump via a jumper at the fuse panel), and verify you have adequate pressure. shut it off, disconnect the T, connect a hose to a clean empty fuel container, and run the pump to verify there's plenty of volume flow.
