Help!! Fuel Volume of Primary fuel pump 1980 242 DL
Dear all,
1st post here. I bought a 1980 242 DL 2.1 4cyl CIS in Phoenix today. Driving it back to the East Coast with my fiance. It is running rough with the occasional blip in power when cruising at 65 doing 2500RPM and then really losing power up the hills with many blips in power under load Took it Meineke today (on a road trip back to MA) but they could not find the fuel volume in order to check if the primary fuel pump was running correctly.
1 coil replaced, cap and rotor also done, new Alternator belt. Wondering about injectors? however fuel pressure is also good. Took out power steering belt and AC belt to replace the Alternator belt. No other service history
Can anyone give me that volume number or suggest anything. We are about to head East tomorrow morning hoping to be in Amarillo at the minimum or Oklahoma City. I'd love to meet anyone who can turn a wrench, suggest ideas or has a primary fuel pump for a 1980 242 DL handy for sale should it turn out to be bad
Thanks,
Simon

I believe the fuel pressure of a k-jet should be around 60 or 65PSI, but no idea on the volume.
if the fuel distributor has gotten gunked up, ugh, they are way too precise and complex for homebrew repairs.
volvo stopped using K-Jetronic (CIS) circa 83 or 84, but Benz continued to use it in their 4 and 6 cylinders til the early 90s (190E, 300E up til like 93 or 94). even tho benz people tend to stick their nose in the air at volvos, you might find more help in the benz community.
I happen to have one of those benzes (1991 260E), and its got some funky running issues, but they are all coming off idle, and not at speed.
btw, chain places like Meineke are generally a total waste of time on a older european car. you need to find a iport shop with someone who's got experience with these specific cars...
