Hey everyone! I have a 1985 volvo 244 that blew a strut yesterday. When searching for a new one I was unable to find a full assembly. All I am finding is just the cartridge/damper and nothing with a spring seat, spring ect...

The problem is the spring seat is the part that rotted out. I found a new spring seat and a cartridge/damper but nothing assembled. Do they get welded or does the spring seat just sit in "seat or flange" and then then just the force of the spring hold it in?

Anyone with help on this or where to get full assembled struts please let me know!

They are inserts, and everything is bolted together.

You will not find a fully assembly unless local to someone to do it for you. Most places will not ship a loaded spring system.

 

assuming you're talking about the lower spring seat thats around the strut tube, that /was/ a separate part, but Volvo no longer carries them.

thats part 18, attached to strut tube 17. they only have strut tube 17 for the later ABS models, not sure if that can be used on older pre-ABS cars or not.
